We can all agree than lemons are one of the best fruits on the planet. They have a fresh scent, a lot of vitamins, and make a great lemonade.
Lemons contain a lot of vitamin C, which is great for the immunity so we can fight flus and colds. Also, lemons contain anti-inflammatory properties that can treat issues such as arthritis and osteoarthritis.
Lemons are also known to reduce the damage from the free radicals. Since they contain a lot of flavonoids, they have a lot of antioxidants that are known as cancer-prevention agents.
So, it would be useful to have lemons in the home, right? If you want to always have a freshly picked lemon without worrying about its quality and origin, you should read the text and learn how to grow your own lemons at your own home with only one seed.
You will need the following:
- 1 lemon
- Soil (good-quality)
- Breathable plastic film
- A sunny area
- A proper pot
Here is how to plant the seed:
You should put the soil in the pot or the container and add a little bit of water so you will dampen the soil. You should leave some space at the top below the rim.
Take one lemon and slice it in half. Choose one seed that has the best shape and remove its flesh. You need the seed to be moist, so don’t dry it. Make a hole into the soil (around ½ inch) and place the seed inside.
Take some soil and cover the seed and water it.
Take the plastic film and cover the pot so you can keep the plant moist. You should put the place on a warm and sunny place.
Don’t water the plant too frequently because the seed can rot. You should take care of the plant for 10-15 days and when you notice it starts sprouting, you should take off the plastic cover.
The pot should be positioned again on a place with a direct sunlight.
How to take care of the lemon tree:
You should make sure that the container has drainage holes. You should water the tree regularly to keep it moist while it’s too young.
The tree needs around 8 hours of sun exposure, so keep it in a sunny area.
Add some fertilizer if you need to. When the plant grows bigger, you should transfer it into a bigger pot and if it becomes too big, you should put it in your backyard or balcony.
